311793 EDC101 Living and Learning in the Digital World

Syllabus
This unit provides an overview of technology enhanced resources commonly used to support teaching and learning.  Fundamental skills, attitudes, and approaches that educators require to make effective personal and professional use of such resources in varied educational contexts will be addressed.  A key focus will be effective integration of technology to enhance learning, teaching and management processes.  Approaches for working in technology-rich educational contexts by which possible harm to one’s self and to others may be minimized through systematic assessment of risk, adoption of safe practices and ethical behavior will be explored.

Introduction
This unit focuses on how our lives are being reshaped b the permeating presence of digital technologies.  The digitisation of our life world and the evolving promise of anything, anytime and everywhere, has implications for education.  The unit will provide students will the opportunity to explore  how digital technologies are changing the way we live, relate to each other and how we learn.  Students will be introduced to a broad range of topics and perspectives.  The unit looks at the opportunities and consequences of living and learning in the digital world.  It is designed to help students navigate  through  the technological maze and to harness their potential for learning and teaching in present and future real, virtual and augmented education spaces.

Following is detailed information on this Assessment Task
Part 3: Personal blog:

1. Reflect on weekly content that has been explored during Weeks 3-8.

My reflection should be 200 words in length each week (total word length 1200 words.) Images, video and links to other webpages or evidence of how I used a particular technology to support or illustrate points I make in my reflections should be used.

My reflections should be critical evaluations of the content or technology and explore areas such as;

  • The value or use of the technology in learning and teaching
  • Ethical considerations
  • Physical requirements
  • The type of learning it may support
  • Security concerns.

2. I am to select one technology from the unit content and describe how I would use it in a lesson. This should be set out using the template provided.

3. My blog will need to be completed by Week 11 as we will share them on the discussion board prior to final submission in Week 12.
Each student will mark and provide written feedback to 2 peers and we need to reflect on the feedback given and make any changes before the final submission date.
The criteria sheets used for marking and feedback will be upload by the student and we need to write a 200 word response to them.
